The roots of the Glatfelter Insurance Group can be traced back to 1951, when Arthur J. Glatfelter, our founder and Chairman of the Board, established his own independent insurance agency. From the very beginning, Art advocated three fundamental principles that form the basis of our corporate culture today: 1) serve as the trusted advisor for the insurance needs of our clients; 2) help our clients understand their loss exposures; and 3) provide service beyond the expectations of our clients. Above all, he believed that our most important responsibility is to provide prompt, considerate claims service.
Over the years, Art successfully built one of the largest all-lines, full-service retail agencies in South Central Pennsylvania. The retail agency is still a fundamental cornerstone of the company. Today, Glatfelter Insurance Group (GIG) is one of the top 25 privately owned insurance brokers in the United States, providing all lines of property, casualty, life, accident, and health insurance products and financial services to individuals, businesses and organizations.
